1. Introduction

Zenly Penlo ("the app", "we", "us") is operated by TechSmart. This policy explains what data we collect when you use our iOS and Android app, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data. By using Zenly Penlo you agree to this policy.

2. What we collect

2.1 Account information

Email address (provided by Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email/password)
Display name and profile picture (you choose, optional)

2.2 Location data

Live GPS coordinates — only while you've granted location permission and have not paused sharing
Movement speed and device battery level — so friends see if you're moving or running low
24-hour trail breadcrumbs — only if you enable "Record my 24h trails" in Settings
Place visits — derived locally when you stop somewhere for 5+ minutes

2.3 Contacts

We never upload your contacts. When you tap "Connect Contacts", the app reads your address book locally on your device only. We use the data to surface friends already on Zenly Penlo and to let you send invites via your own SMS app. The contact list itself never leaves your device unencrypted.

2.4 Photos and camera

Moments photos you choose to share — uploaded to our servers and visible to your friends
Camera access — only while scanning a friend's QR code

2.5 Device information

Push notification token (so we can deliver pushes)
Operating system and language preference (for localization)
Anonymous device identifier (for ad attribution and account recovery)

2.6 Usage analytics

App opens, feature taps, and screen views via Firebase Analytics. Used to understand how users navigate the app, fix bugs, and prioritize improvements.

3. How we use your data

Show your location and status to friends you've explicitly added
Deliver chat messages, bumps, and place transition notifications
Send push notifications about friend activity
Improve app stability and discover bugs (analytics + crash reports)
Display ads if you don't have Premium

4. Who we share your data with

Friends you've added — they see what you've explicitly shared
Service providers that operate the app on our behalf:
- Firebase / Google (database, hosting, analytics, push delivery, crash reporting)
- Apple App Store / Google Play (app distribution)
- Ad networks via Google AdMob — only when you don't have Premium
Nobody else. We do not sell your data to advertisers, brokers, or unrelated third parties.

5. Your rights and controls

Delete your account: Settings → Account → Delete Account. All your data is removed within 30 days.
Hide from a specific friend: tap the eye-slash button on their profile.
Ghost Mode: pause location sharing for a chosen duration.
Stop trail recording: Settings → Map → toggle "Record my 24h trails".
Revoke contacts permission: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts → Penlo.
Block another user: tap their profile → Block.

6. Data retention

Active account data: kept until you delete your account
Last known location: kept until you change it or delete your account
Trail breadcrumbs: auto-deleted after 24 hours
Moments: kept until you or we delete them, or you delete your account
Push tokens: kept while your account is active

7. Children

Zenly Penlo is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us at support@techsmart.bio and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use Firebase's industry-standard security (TLS in transit, role-based access rules at rest) to protect your data. No system is fully secure, but we follow best practices and work to keep your information safe.

9. International users

Our servers are operated by Google in regions including the United States and Asia. By using Zenly Penlo you consent to your data being processed in those regions.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will notify you in-app of material changes and update the "Last updated" date above.
